KONSTANTIN ZHIGULIN

Originally written in the Russian language by Konstantin Zhigulin and translated by Christian brothers Mark Shipp, Wiley Dean and Jeff Matteson, this collection of hymns was inspired by the Psalms and other passages in the Holy Scriptures. Reflected in this project is God’s unfathomable work uniting nations and cultures for His glory. For this profound blessing we give all praise, honor and glory to God the Father through Jesus Christ our Lord.

An interview with Robin Harris

Q:What do you think about music in general?
A: Music is one of the greatest gifts of God. To some extant He Himself is reflected in this wonderful gift. It is a unique connection of feelings, thoughts and emotions of a person for the sake of his self-expression. You must know a verse from the Bible: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind". (Math. 22:37). In this scripture we can see an excellent example of one of the goals of music. Music allows a person to participate both in its listening and performing.

There are translations of several works into English, made by the author together with Mark Shipp - one of the professors of ITCM as well as translations made by a missionary Jeff Matteson.

These works are not based on religious views of some concrete denomination, they are embodiment of feelings and thoughts of the author inspired by biblical stories and images. These works are performed not only on the stage but, what is especially important for the author, during worship of different congregations in many cities of Russia and abroad.

An information database is planned to be created which will contain the music and the texts of the songs and will serve the purpose of development of singing in churches.
Those who have made the website are interested in your suggestions. The main purpose of this work is selection of music and translations corresponding to the biblical confession of faith on the one hand and harmonious combination of texts and music on the other.
